Rabelais. Gargantua et Pantagruel. Paris: Les Vasseur et Cie., 1936. One of 900 limited editions. Illustrated by Louis Icart - 50 colored etchings bound with the text. 16 additional colored etchings unbound in a quarter leather and marbled portfolio. Five volumes bound in full leather with gilt decorated covers and spines. Spines have gilt title, author, and volume number, as well as five raised bands. 

These volumes are in very good condition with little wear and some uniform discoloration on the spines from light exposure.  The portfolio has seen more use and it is in very good minus condition with signs of wear to rear end page and the head and tail of the leather spine. There is a darker blot on the cover, which may have happened in the marbling process. 

Please note: these volumes are in the original Middle French language of the 16th century.
